In This Line

A pipe making machine price depends on scope rather than quality, which is why two quotations for the same diameter can differ a great deal. Pricing is tiered by configuration — a complete line against a base machine — and the tier decides which units, controls and inspection stations are included. The lines themselves are under tube mill & welded pipe production line; partner terms are under for distributors and integrators.
What Actually Changes Between Tiers
- Scope class — complete line or single unit / module.
- Automation level — semi-automatic or fully automatic PLC.
- Inspection train — an ordinary welded line carries no in-line NDT; an API line carries annealing, hydrostatic, ultrasonic and eddy-current stations.
- Finishing set on spiral lines — the 820 and 1620 configurations differ in edge milling, welding power source and finishing stations.
- Forming route — conventional roll forming, or direct forming square with one combined mould.
Why Two Quotes for the Same Diameter Differ
Two quotations for the same diameter usually differ because they quote different scope: one may be a complete line, the other a base machine, and a tiered quotation read as a single product price makes the gap look like a quality difference. Pricing is tiered by configuration — complete lines against basic units — and the difference reflects scope, not quality.
Two further effects belong in the same comparison. Whole-line supply reduces total cost relative to assembling units separately, and on the direct-forming route a size change needs no roll change, which keeps roll consumption and running cost down over the life of the line.
Tier Comparison: What Each Configuration Level Includes
A complete high-frequency line is supplied as eight units: expanding-mandrel uncoiler, five-roller leveller (HG89 and above), automatic shear and butt welder, spiral accumulator, forming and sizing mill, high-frequency induction welder, flying saw, and PLC with variable-frequency control. A single unit or module is any one of these supplied on its own to fit an existing line. Within either class, the price moves with the dimensions listed above — automation level, whether an in-line inspection train is fitted, and the forming route. The unit-by-unit scope and the acceptance terms are under tube mill supply scope, commissioning & acceptance criteria.
Which Items Are Included and Which Are Excluded
Included with the line. Engineers on site to guide installation, commissioning and operator training, with online support afterwards, and a spare-parts pack travelling with the container. On spiral lines, the supply list also carries welding-wire spools, the clamping dies for the end-facing machine, and the flux drying, magnetic separation and recovery equipment.
On the buyer’s side. Incoming strip of the agreed grade and flatness; electricity, water and compressed air at the workshop; hydraulic oil and gearbox lubricating oil; and day-to-day operation and production scheduling.
Matching a Tier to Your Order Mix
Match the tier to what your order book asks of the line. If the pipe must meet a product standard such as API 5L, the in-line inspection train belongs in scope. If the plan is many sizes in modest quantities, the forming route and automation level matter more, because they decide how fast and how cheaply the line changes size. If the plan is one size at volume, a base machine with standard automation may be enough.
Partners buying to resell can see how the tiers sit inside our tube mill dealer & agent program.
What Keeps the Cost Down After the Purchase
Low roll wear, high material yield and quick changeover are what keep long-term running cost under control: roll saving is above 90% on the direct-forming route, and on high-end configurations material yield can reach 93% or more, with actual yield also depending on the buyer’s operation.
A tier decision is a running-cost decision as much as a purchase-price decision, so weigh the two separately.
Packaging, Delivery and Commissioning Are Part of the Tier
Standard lines ship within 90 working days of the deposit, with plant-level customisation scheduled from our own manufacturing base.
The line is dismantled into units and shipped in containers: heavy frames are braced and secured, while precision parts and wear items travel in wooden cases together with a spare-parts pack.
Our engineers travel to site to guide installation, commissioning and operator training; the buyer provides the installation crew and covers the engineers’ travel, lodging and daily allowance, and support continues online after handover.
Why Prices Are Quoted, Not Listed
Prices are quoted against a defined configuration rather than published as a list.
The price question usually arises when a tiered quotation is read as a single product price, so one published number would only add to the confusion. What resolves it is comparing what each quotation actually includes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do two quotes for the same pipe diameter differ so much?
Because diameter alone does not define a line. Pricing is tiered by configuration — complete line against base machine — and the cause of the confusion is exactly this: a tiered quotation read as if it were a single product price. The difference reflects scope, not a quality gap.
What changes between configuration tiers?
Five dimensions: scope class, automation level, whether an in-line inspection train is present, the spiral finishing configuration, and the forming route. An ordinary welded line carries no in-line non-destructive testing; an API line adds medium-frequency annealing, straightening, end facing, hydrostatic testing, ultrasonic and eddy-current inspection. The inspection train is the largest single scope difference in the range.
Which items are included and which are excluded?
Included: engineers on site for installation, commissioning and operator training, and a spare-parts pack with the container; on spiral lines, also the flux handling equipment, welding-wire spools and the end-facing clamping dies. On the buyer’s side: incoming strip, workshop power, water and air, hydraulic and lubricating oil, and operation.
A unit-by-unit inclusion list is issued with the quotation.
How do I match a tier to my order mix?
Start from what your pipe has to prove. If it must pass a compliance inspection chain, the inspection train is not optional and the API configuration is in scope. If the plan is many sizes in modest quantities, the forming route matters more than the inspection train, and the advantage is changing size without changing rolls.
If the plan is one size at volume, neither advantage applies and a base machine may suit.
Can a tier be upgraded later?
Plan the tier at quotation rather than counting on a later upgrade. Automation level — semi-automatic or fully automatic PLC control — and the inspection train are specified with the line rather than offered as add-on options; whether units can be added to an existing line is confirmed against its configuration when you ask.
How do I request a tiered quotation?
Send the target outside diameter, wall thickness and output, and state whether the pipe must meet a product standard such as API 5L. Those three plus the standard question are what decide scope class, automation level and inspection train.
Commercial terms: 30% by T/T on signing, 65% by T/T before shipment and 5% after installation and commissioning, or payment by L/C at sight; prices are quoted ex-works (EXW).
Welded pipe machine price list
We do not publish a welded pipe machine price list: pricing is tiered by configuration and quoted against a defined scope, because the same diameter can be produced by lines of very different scope. What we can send without a quotation is the configuration comparison above, which is the part that explains the spread.
Tube mill machine price list
There is no tube mill machine price list either. To compare quotations from different suppliers, ask which scope class and which automation and inspection level each one assumes; once those match, the prices become comparable.
