Home › Roll Forming Machine › Cold Roll Forming Machine for C, Z and Omega Purlins
A cold roll forming machine shapes steel strip at room temperature: successive roll passes bend it progressively into an open section, which is then hydraulically punched and cut.
In This Line

There is no welding and no phase change — purely plastic deformation.
A tube mill forms strip into a closed section and welds the seam. A cold roll forming machine bends strip into an open section and never welds it: the section holds its shape through the bends, and the line finishes with hydraulic punching and cut-off rather than a welder and a sizing stand. The parts that wear are the forming rolls, the punching dies and the cutters.

Our cold roll forming equipment is CE marked under the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC; the certification covers C, Omega, Zeta and Z purlin sections as well as other open and closed profiles.
Line Configuration and Scope of Supply
The line is made up of:
- Entry guide and levelling unit
- Roll forming machine with 18 forming passes; rolls in bearing steel, finished after quenching
- Two hydraulic punching units and a hydraulic cutting unit; dies and cutters in quenched Cr12
- Hydraulic stepless adjustment, so section size changes without changing rolls
- Electrical control: industrial PLC with variable-frequency drive; length, hole pitch and quantity are entered, and the line punches, forms and cuts automatically
- Hydraulic station, 11 kW, with accumulator
We quote either the complete line or individual machines and units where the plant already has part of the line.
- Forming rolls and key wear parts are machined in-house on the works’ own CNC equipment, rather than bought from an outside shop. On a forming line, where tooling is the capability, that matters more than it does on a tube mill.
- The works operates its own production base and is open to factory audit, in person or by live video walk-through.
- An engineering team of 20, averaging 20 years each, does the line sizing rather than a configurator.
Size Change, Roll Wear and Running Cost
The same machine produces multiple C, Z and Ω section sizes by stepless adjustment, without changing rolls.
Roll, die and cutter hardness — bearing steel for rolls, Cr12 for dies and cutters — is what stands between the line and hole-position drift, section twist or a blunt edge.
What wears. Forming rolls are replacement wear parts; punching dies and cutters are both wear parts and consumables, replaced or re-ground by punch count.
Responsibility boundary. The machine holds punch position and roll profile accuracy; the plant sets the entered parameters and the setup, and remains responsible for strip grade and flatness. The line has a guide and levelling unit at the entry, but defects that come in with the strip will show in the finished section.
Applications and Output Examples
C and Z purlins from this line go into steel-structure buildings and photovoltaic mounting frames; length, hole pitch and quantity change from order to order, and the line handles that from the control panel without changing rolls.
Material thickness, line speed and output are confirmed against your profile section, steel grade and finished length at quotation. Send us those three and we will state the figures.
Delivery, Installation and Training
Standard lines ship within 90 working days of the deposit, with plant-level customisation scheduled from our own manufacturing base.
The line is dismantled into units and shipped in containers: heavy frames are braced and secured, while precision parts and wear items travel in wooden cases together with a spare-parts pack.
Our engineers travel to site to guide installation, commissioning and operator training; the buyer provides the installation crew and covers the engineers’ travel, lodging and daily allowance, and support continues online after handover.
Payment is 30% by T/T on signing, 65% by T/T before shipment and 5% after installation and commissioning, or by L/C at sight; prices are quoted ex-works (EXW).
Our after-sales team handles enquiries.
Custom metal roll forming
For a section outside the C, Z and Ω range, send us the profile drawing and an engineer will work through it with you.
Send Your Enquiry
Tell us the pipe outside-diameter range, the wall thickness and the output you need. An engineer reads every enquiry — it does not land in a general sales inbox.
