Forming stands of the API line pipe mill

As an API pipe mill manufacturer, we supply integrators with the complete line pipe plant: a high-frequency welded line extended with medium-frequency annealing, straightening, end facing, hydrostatic testing, and ultrasonic and eddy-current inspection. Four models cover outside diameter 114 to 508 mm with wall 3 to 20 mm, set out model by model on the API line pipe mill page; for larger diameters, our SSAW spiral welded pipe mill makes pipe up to 1,620 mm. Our wider range is under tube mill manufacturer, and partner terms are under for distributors and integrators.

Size Window, Inspection Chain, Certification and Witness

  1. Size window: OD 114–508 mm, wall 3–20 mm across four models — API 219, API 406, API 426 and API 508.
  2. Inspection chain: annealing → straightening → end facing → hydrostatic → UT → ECT; what each station does is set out under API 5L inspection configuration.
  3. Certification: we build and configure the equipment, and API 5L certification of the pipe is earned by the plant under its own quality system. Our welded pipe equipment is CE marked under the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and the company is certified to ISO 9001:2015.
  4. Witness and third-party inspection: before shipment the line is run and accepted at our works, with the buyer present or watching by live video, and third-party inspection agencies appointed by the buyer are welcome to carry out pre-shipment inspection at the plant.

Programme Scope and Who It Is For

The programme is for integrators and contractors building a line pipe plant that makes API 5L pipe for oil and gas transmission. On these orders, weld performance and the compliance inspection chain are a precondition for the order rather than a quality preference, so the plant’s process, quality and NDT staff need the full chain working from commissioning. Operating the in-line NDT requires specialist NDT training or qualification.

Configuration Tiers and What Each Tier Includes

What separates an API line from an ordinary welded line is the inspection train: in-line NDT and post-processing, with the NDT and hydrostatic units counted as core equipment because together they form the API 5L compliance chain. We supply a complete line or single units, and pricing is tiered by configuration to reflect scope, not a quality gap.

Technical Support Provided

Our engineers travel to site to guide installation, commissioning and operator training; the buyer provides the installation crew and covers the engineers’ travel, lodging and daily allowance, and support continues online after handover. For this line that is two to three engineers, with the period set in the quotation. Consumables for the inspection chain are NDT couplant and calibration blocks, replenished according to inspection volume.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the integrator programme include?

For integrators the programme is scope, inspection chain and standards rather than a partner agreement: a complete line or single units, the full six-station post-weld and inspection train, and installation and commissioning guided on site by our engineers.

What are typical lead times and payment terms?

Standard lines ship within 90 working days of the deposit, with plant-level customisation scheduled from our own manufacturing base. Payment is 30% by T/T on signing, 65% by T/T before shipment and 5% after installation and commissioning, or by L/C at sight; prices are quoted ex-works (EXW). The line is dismantled into units and shipped in containers: heavy frames are braced and secured, while precision parts and wear items travel in wooden cases together with a spare-parts pack.
