Cut-to-Length Line
A cut-to-length line uncoils a steel coil, levels it and cuts it across into flat sheets of a set length, ready for press or fabrication work.
In This Line
A steel coil cut to length line is built for plants that work from flat sheet rather than coil. The coil is uncoiled and levelled, the strip is measured and cut across to the length you need, and the sheets are stacked at the exit.
If your next line runs coil instead, such as a tube mill or a roll forming line, you need our steel coil slitting line; the difference between the two is set out in slitting vs cut-to-length.
What Is a Cut-to-Length Line?
A cut-to-length line is a coil processing line that turns steel coil into flat sheets of a set length. It runs in one direction, from uncoiler and leveller through length measurement and a cross-cut shear to the stacker, and the shear at its centre is often called a steel coil cutting machine. Unlike a slitting line, it does not divide the strip into narrower widths.

Cut-to-Length Line — Range, Configuration and Output
A coil cut to length line is built around four sections: an uncoiler that holds and pays off the coil, a leveller that takes out coil set, a measuring and cutting section where the strip is cut across to length, and a stacker that collects the sheets at the exit. The range of the line, from coil thickness and width to sheet length and output, is set for your material at quotation; we do not give one fixed range for every order.
Key Parameters: Coil Width, Strip Thickness, Line Speed
A cut-to-length line is sized from your coil and your sheet, so these are the figures we ask for:
- Coil thickness, coil width and steel grade
- Coil weight, and inner and outer coil diameter
- Sheet length range and the length accuracy you need
- Line speed or output per shift
We confirm the line against them at quotation. How length accuracy is specified is explained on the cut-to-length accuracy page.
How to Choose the Right Model
- Start from what the next process takes in. Flat sheet at a set length means a cut-to-length line; narrow coil for a tube mill or a roll forming line means a steel coil slitting line.
- Check the coil. Thickness, width, steel grade and coil weight decide the uncoiler, the leveller and the shear.
- Check the sheet. The length range, the accuracy you need and how the sheets should leave the line decide the measuring system and the stacker.
There is no fixed model list for this line; each steel cut to length machine is configured from these three answers. Distributors can also see our wholesale cut-to-length lines page.
Scope of Supply, Installation and Commissioning
Standard lines ship within 90 working days of the deposit, with plant-level customisation scheduled from our own manufacturing base.
The line is dismantled into units and shipped in containers: heavy frames are braced and secured, while precision parts and wear items travel in wooden cases together with a spare-parts pack.
Our engineers travel to site to guide installation, commissioning and operator training; the buyer provides the installation crew and covers the engineers’ travel, lodging and daily allowance, and support continues online after handover. Our after-sales team handles enquiries.
Payment is 30% by T/T on signing, 65% by T/T before shipment and 5% after installation and commissioning, or by L/C at sight; prices are quoted ex-works (EXW).
Cut to length machine for steel coil
A cut to length machine for steel coil is usually supplied as a complete line, from coil loading to sheet stacking, so that the leveller, the shear and the stacker are matched to each other and to your coil. A coil cut to length machine can also be quoted as the cutting section alone; see our steel coil cutting machine page.
